It has been Christmas in Trinidad since about the middle of September. Since then, decorations are everywhere and the radio only plays Christmas-themed tunes (only not ones you have ever heard of). We are giving it all our effort despite the climate but when it is this hot, something just does not feel right.
Although The Handsome Dutchman and Castaway have an overwhelming number of things in common – so much, in fact, that we can create a sort of reinforcing and sometimes dangerous echo effect with each other – there are still some areas where the Scottish-Dutch cultural divide cannot be breached.
While the Captain’s Dog is enjoying a stay in the riverside dog hotel back home, Mummy and Daddy Castaway have braved the twenty-four hour journey from the North of Scotland to visit us here and enjoy some warm weather – of which there is very little in November in Aberdeenshire but more than enough to go round here.
